The safety and security of our guests and staff  remain our highest priority. We have been closely monitoring and applying the Cameroon Ministry of Public Health guidance on the fight against COVID-19.  

On a daily basis, our hotel is working to ensure that they meet the latest guidance on hygiene and cleaning. Our hotels’ health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including COVID-19, and include everything from handwashing hygiene and cleaning product specifications to guest room and common area cleaning procedures.

Specific steps we are taking include:

  • Our hotel staff are receiving ongoing briefings and enhanced operating protocols. Their health, safety, and knowledge are essential to an effective cleaning program. Here are some ways we’re supporting them:
    • Hand Hygiene: Proper and frequent handwashing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses. In our daily meetings, our teams are reminded that cleanliness starts with this simple act. It’s important for their health and that of our guests.
    • Food and Beverage handling: We have adjusted the food and beverage service in accordance with current food safety recommendations
    • Ongoing Training: In addition to training on housekeeping and hygiene protocols, hotel staff are also completing enhanced COVID-19 awareness training.
  • Cleaning Products and Protocols: Our hotel uses cleaning products and protocols which are effective against viruses, including:
    • Guest Rooms: The hotel uses cleaning and disinfecting protocols to clean rooms after guests depart and before the next guest arrives, with particular attention paid to high-touch items.
    • Public Spaces: The hotel has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on the counter at the front desk, door handles, public bathrooms and even room keys.
    • Back of House: In the spaces where staff work “behind the scenes,” Augusta is increasing the frequency of cleaning and focusing on high-touch areas like staff entrances, locker rooms, laundry rooms, and staff offices.
  • For our guests:
    • COVID-19 posters have been placed on prominent places to raise awareness
    • Water points are placed at the entrance to the hotel for washing of hands
    • Hand Sanitizer is placed on the counter at the reception and other prominent spots for sanitizing the hands
  • We will continue to follow guidance from the Ministry of Public Health to minimize the spread of the Corona Virus
